Webinar – The violation of women’s fundamental rights in Iran between law and international politics

April 19, 2023 (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.)

The Interdepartmental Center for Research Ethics and Integrity of the CNR and Sapienza University of Rome (PhD in Public, Comparative and International Law) are organising the webinar on “The violation of women’s rights in Iran between law and international policy”.

Since autumn 2022, the Iranian population has engaged in a series of protests, strikes and demonstrations following the death of Mahsa (Jina) Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish student. This triggered a harsh repression by the Iranian authorities and a spiral of violence.

The seminar analyses the issue of fundamental rights violations by the Islamic Republic from an international law and historical perspective. The webinar brings together international lawyers (Professors Salvatore Amato and Sergio Marchisio), officials of international organisations (Dr. Chiara Scipioni) and eyewitnesses of fundamental rights violations (Farzana Razouli).
