CNCCS

The objective of the CNCCS (National Chemical Compounds Collection and Screening Centre) project is to support research, testing, allocation and dissemination of medicines for rare, neglected and poverty diseases.

The research activities entrusted to the Interdepartmental Center for Research Ethics and Integrity of the CNR (Project B (Sp2) – WP6 Bioethics〉, are dedicated to the definition of ethical criteria to orientate the decisions, objectives and methodologies of healthcare, assistance and rehabilitative interventions as well as services for improving the quality of life of patients and care givers.

Criteria for ethical guidance are proposed specifically with regard to the handling of informed consent in research and the donation of biological specimens in order to safeguard more concretely the individual rights of patients and patients as persons. An ethical analysis of the access to health services of the most economically and socially disadvantaged population groups in areas where Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are endemic is conducted, and ethical principles are proposed for the evaluation of programmes and intervention strategies for the prevention, treatment and elimination of NTDs.
